Sophia Sings her Way to Success
We have a rising musical star in the Prep department! Year 6 pupil, Sophia, has successfully auditioned for the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, competing against girls from across the country for a place on the prestigious programme.
She will be joining the Junior section of the Girls’ Choir which performs at concerts throughout the UK including such esteemed venues as the Royal Albert Hall. It is an amazing opportunity that demands high artistic standards and will help her with vocal and musical development. Not only will the opportunity afford the best choral training, it will also give her experience in performance, recording, leadership and teamwork.
Feedback from her audition was impressive, with the judges commenting on her “lovely, clear voice” and making note of the “engagement” in her face as she sang.
Sophia herself is overjoyed with the news and can’t wait to “make people happy” with her singing. It is yet another musical string to add to her bow, as she has already been chosen to play the violin, in her age group, for the string section at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Head of Prep, Mrs Mortimer, is delighted that Sophia’s musical talents are being recognised. She said,
“It is so important for our girls to follow their dreams and to have high aspirations. At MHSG, we are keen for the girls to challenge themselves and feel empowered to achieve their goals. We look forward to supporting Sophia with her ambitions and can’t wait to see her perform!”
